Itinerary

 

DAY 1: ROTORUA.
We meet in the afternoon in the spa city of Rotorua.

DAY 2 TAUPO.
We now head for Lake Taupo of trout fishing fame, with a visit to the dramatic Huka Falls a must.

DAY 3 and 4 TONGARIRO.
The three volcanoes, Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu are the dramatic features of Tongariro National Park. Here we relax in style and comfort at the Grand Chateau. Take take an optional full day  hike over the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

DAY 5 PIO PIO.
We wind our way down to King Country, known for sheep farms and limestone formations, for a farmstay.

DAY 6 WAITOMO.
Our hosts will show us a little of their lifestyle and then it is a short, easy ride to the old world charm of Waitomo Caves.

DAY 7 and 8 AUCKLAND.
A visit to the world famous caves is a must, with the option of blackwater rafting for the more daring. We follow delightful quiet country roads to Pirongia from where we drive back to Auckland.
